YAR! We love music but hate about 99% of the mainstream music that is being thrown at us. This blog was designed to share the music we that harpooned in, so you don't have to sift through the rubbage!

The Sw!ms

This is a band that I found awhile back that has tendency to get stuck in my head for long periods of time. They are a psychedelic retro-pop band from Scranton, PA, which shares members with An Albatross, an electronic noisecore band for those who don't know. Overall, their sound is very harmonic with very solid song writing. The lead singer, Brian Langan, reminds me of a modern reincarnation of Elvis Costello. Their last album, Ride the Blueberry Winter (prison jazz), was released way back in 2006. The band is still touring so I am hopeful that they will have a new album out soon. The album is amazingly catchy and shows mass appeal. I can't peg a specific influence but think '70s and '60s power pop and you will be in the ballpark. One of the reasons that I can't label them is because that album is varied, genre bending, and most of all eclectic. If you are in check them out, they are constantly touring. If your not from the keystone state, look below for free music.
